英语说明文的写作要点
1. 英语说明文的特点：一是知识的科学性；二是行文的条理性；三是语言的准确性。因此，说明文体的书面表达要求简明扼要、逻辑严密、切忌含糊其词，模棱两可，更不能出现概念错误，或者知识的偏差性。
2. 说明文是对人或事物的特征、性质、形状以及功能，或是对事物的发生、发展、结果等进行介绍、解释、阐述的一种文体。
3. 说明文的命题方式多为图表或文字提示，写作形式有书信、报道、说明书、实验报告以及介绍路线、工厂、家乡、景点、学校等。
4. 英语说明文的语言特点：
1)恰当地使用过渡词语充分体现时间顺序、空间顺序及逻辑顺序。
2)以主动语态、陈述句式为主，为了表达的灵活也可以选用其他表达形式；
3)时态相对较为统一：多用一般现在时；
英语说明范文示例：
It is very important to deal with the rubbish in cities. Rubbish must be treated properly, otherwise it may cause troubles. It may pollute the air and water. If people breathe the polluted air or drink the polluted water, they may get ill.
Our city has begun to pay attention to the problem. For example, rubbish is sorted. Some, such as newspapers and glass, are recycled. The rest, which is believed to be harmful, is sent to certain places and buried. Laws have been passed to protect the environment, so waste water should be treated before it is poured into rivers.
